and this is all I can think of doing.
It's the day after a long public holiday weekend here and it so quiet at work we are even past fighting each other for jobs to do. And for once nobody's standing behind me monitioring how much time I may waste on the net. Probably just as well as I worked pretty much all weekend and it was quite busy and now I'm just keeping my eyes open.
2 more weeks til holiday in the sun Woohoo!
I picked up my tickets a few days ago. I am going to turn into a true reality TV geek as they are running Big Brother 2003 at Dreamworld Gold Coast and I am dragging my mother along to a live televised Big Brother Eviction. For those who've never heard of it Big Brother is kinda like The Sims but in real life. Throw 20 people in a house no contact with the outside world and no TV, film them on hidden cameras 24 hours a day, televise highlights evry evening. each week get the house mates to nominate 2 people for eviction. Top 3 are up for eviction, public votes to evict one housemate each week. Eviction parties look pretty wicked from what I've seen on TV so should be cool.

Well look at that almost time for tea.

Why do they put people in a completely unrealistic situation, and then call it "reality" television?
Just curious, you know...

I'm firmly against reality programming. I blame MTV for the whole thing. Darned crappy dating show started it all.
Speaking of reality tv... A friend of mine keeps trying to get me to watch a bad Japanese movie called "Battle Royal". It's like Survivor meets Lord of the Flies. Two teams (which are actually school classes ranging from elementary to high school level) are chosen by random lottery, and placed on an island together. The only way to win the bout and be set free is to kill every other person on the island (including your own team - there is only one winner). Sounds pretty twisted to me, especially when the beginning of the movie shows the last winner, some fifth or sixth grade little kid.
Anyways... I'm trying to amuse myself at work, too. Yay employment.

I like Big Brother. It is one of the few shows I would consider doing. You don't *HAVE* to eat gross stuff, or live in the wilderness, and you get to lay around a lot.
Lack of internet thing might give me the shakes tho...

I quite enjoy the fact that it is not purely competitive like most of the reality shows seem to be. Its just more social experimentation and people watching and I like people watching. I think reality TV is quite addictive tho' really as soon as you watch one program and perhaps decide you like one particular person then I think quite often you're hooked. (this is kinda how I ended up watching Joe Millionaire when I coulda sworn I mentioned I wouldn't watch it in a million years) Of course watching people stupid enough to eat really foul things does have some kinda sick weird appeal to it. Battle Royale distrubs me. I don't have a TV, so I've never seen a single episode of Survivor or its spinoffs, Who Wants To Be/Marry/Murder a Millionaire, or Friends. But I hear about them.
I know I've been hyping the Strongbad Email thing, but seriously, check out the "dullard" email. At one point homestar is going off about a reality tv show and I swear that's what most of the conversations I hear about it sound like.
Have fun, though, CB.
